Gonzalo Aizpiri will take over from Marcelino Oreja as CEO of Enagás

Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri will happen to Marcelino Ear as CEO of Enagas. The board of directors of the gas system operator plans to vote on this replacement next Monday, according to ‘Cinco Días’ and confirmed by El Periódico in market sources, within a restructuring of its directive board and of his board of directors to fit the energy transition.

The company, in which the state holds a 5% stake through the State Industrial Participation Company (SEPI), has declined to comment.

Until this Wednesday, the new CEO of Enagás was Director General of Communication, Institutional Relations and Chairmanship, and a member of the Executive Committee of Repsola company he joined in 1990 and in which he held different charges managers.

A chemical engineer by training, Aizpiri is linked to the PSOEsince he was director of the Environment Agency of the Community of Madrid between 1993 and 1995, and General Secretary for the Prevention of Pollution and Climate Change in the Ministry of the Environment from 2004 to 2008, with Christina Narbonne as Minister of the Environment, during the government of Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. There he coincided with the current vice president and minister for the Ecological Transition, Theresa Riveraat that time director general of the Climate Change Office.
