code orange comes into effect from midnight tonight, but there is an exception…

The royal decree authorizing the reopening of nightclubs will come into force at midnight, Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden confirmed on Thursday: “It is absurd to start these measures tomorrow at 5 a.m., when we know that the students already want to party tonight,” she told HLN.be.

Consequently, the nightclubs will be able to reopen their doors from midnight, on the night of Thursday to Friday.

Cafes and restaurants will no longer be bound by a particular closing time. It is indeed this Friday that the corona barometer in Belgium officially switches from code red to code orange. The Consultation Committee formalized this transition on February 11.

The public will therefore, among other things, be able to find the dance floors this evening, but always following having presented a valid CST. The world of the night will have to limit the capacity of its rooms to 70%.

In cafes, it will now be allowed to consume standing up or to sit at large tables. The closing time for night shops has been lifted.

But beware, the wearing of the mask for children up to and including 11 years old will expire on Saturday 19.
