The organizers of the Winter Olympics Beijing reported their first day without new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
No positives were detected among the 5,239 athletes and delegation members and the 63,731 people working inside the Chinese capital’s Olympic bubble in a 24-hour period through Wednesday, according to figures released Thursday.
All people in the bubble must be tested for the coronavirus on a daily basis.
Only seven people landed at the Beijing airport on Wednesday for the Games and none tested positive.
In the more than 1.6 million tests carried out since January 23, 435 positives have been confirmed. Of these, 264 were athletes and authorities and 171 workers of the Games.
