José Enrique “Chelique” Sarabia, singer, musician, composer, poet, publicist, television producer and political adviser, died this Wednesday night, reported Ciro García, advisor to the Radio Chamber.
The composer, who was 81 years old, was admitted to the Anzoátegui Specialty Center, in Lechería, in January. The cause of death is unknown.
Chelique Sarabia, born in La Asunción, Nueva Esparta state, is recognized for being the author of the song “Ansiedad”. More than 1,000 of his nearly 2,000 songs are registered with the Society of Authors and Composers of Venezuela (Sacven).
In 2015, he was honored with the Grammy Board of Directors Award at the age of 75, following more than two decades of retiring from the music field.
