Formerly Analyst Niko Partners Daniel Ahmad reported that, according to his company’s estimates, sales of the Xbox Series X|S reached 12 million by the end of December. However, Ampere Analysis believes that the actual sales figures did not go beyond 10.3 million units.

“They ended the year with 10.3 million. These numbers are in line with Xbox One sales in the same amount of time since launch.

Sony has officially shipped 17.3 million PlayStation 5 consoles to stores by the end of the year. Microsoft does not share shipping statistics, but says the Xbox Series X|S is selling faster than any other Xbox console in history.

According to Ampere Analysis, Xbox Series S overtakes Xbox Series X in cumulative sales at the end of 2021.

“The cheaper and less powerful disc-less Xbox Series S was better marketed, leading to its widespread use with Xbox Game Pass,” the report says.

Analyst agency expects 18 million PlayStation 5 consoles, 9 million Xbox Series X|S and 21 million Nintendo Switch consoles to be sold this year.
