Professor of Cardiology: 50% of sudden deaths among young people

Dr. Adel Al-Atrebi, Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases, said that the issue of sudden death has existed globally for decades, and it was easy to diagnose it as a heart attack, but scientific studies confirmed that there are other causes that cause sudden death other than the arteries of the heart.

He added, during an intervention with the journalist Ramy Radwan, on the “Evening dmc” program, which is broadcast on the “dmc” channel: “The sudden death may occur as a result of a disorder in the body.” Electricity of the heartor an organic disorder in the heart itself, and this disorder is inherited in the electrocardiograms that may not be detected, and studies have found that regarding 20% to 30% of families in which deaths occur, a sudden death can occur among them.”

He said: “There are diseases in the heart that are known to cause sudden death. Therefore, during the past years, special types of cardiac pacemakers have been developed to give electric shocks that they poison the shock device.

He continued, “50% of sudden deaths occur among young people, and this statistic includes athletes and non-athletes, and certainly severe physical stress, may increase the secretion of certain things in the blood that lead to a disturbance in the heartbeat of a person who has the tendency.”

He said: “There are some signs that can raise the alarm, such as exposure to unexplained fainting without a pathological reason, and they used to say while we were studying medicine, that a person is allowed to faint twice only for no reason, following that the person must undergo an examination.”
