The judge mentioned it, we found “no precedent” to compare the crime committed by Mélanie Lévesque, a 44-year-old mother who was accused of computer luring. The manipulation that continued for 51 months before the teenager discovered the pot of roses required a high degree of sophistication.

Aged 13 in 2015, the victim was a promising athlete from outside the Quebec region. To perfect his sport, the young man was lodged with his trainer, the husband of Mélanie Lévesque, on a regular basis, then every weekend for three years.

Throughout this period and to “achieve online sexual enjoyment”, the accused lured the victim by creating fake Facebook and SnapChat profiles of a young girl who allegedly fell in love with the boy. “For the next 51 months, she manipulated the victim and the two families. She uses several stratagems to monopolize the emotional and romantic development of the young man,” summed up judge Mario Tremblay.

Explicit photos

To hide “her predatory strategy”, Mélanie Lévesque had to show “control” and “emotional blackmail” which monopolized a lot of her time. After weaving her web, the accused requested and obtained from the young man explicit images, in particular videos of masturbation.

When the teenager questioned the existence of his virtual lover, whom he still had not met following so many years, Mélanie Tremblay comforted the youngster, but she never attempted a physical rapprochement, preferring to reach her “online sexual climax”.

The discovery of this double life obviously broke up the family of the accused. For his part, the victim, who is now an adult, had to deal with dark thoughts, convinced that his adolescence had been stolen from him.

Mélanie Lévesque’s sexological report shows a non-negligible manipulative potential and, even if her interest was limited to fantasy, she experienced the end of the relationship “like a heartache”. Given the woman’s very high degree of responsibility, the judge sentenced her to a two-year sentence to be served in a federal penitentiary.
