It all starts on January 7, 2022, when Erin Jackson slides on the 500 m, his main discipline, during the “trials” qualifications to appear in Team USA. She still manages to finish in third position but unfortunately, only the first two places offer a direct place for the Olympics.
At first, Jackson believed that she would not participate in these Olympic Games.
But just as she was regarding to burst into tears, her guardian angel appeared. It is quite simply his teammate and friend for nearly 20 years, Brittany Bowe. The latter won the 500m and also qualified for the 1000m and 1500m, her two favorite events.
Facing the sadness ofErin Jacksonshe decided to leave her place, so that her friend might represent the United States on the biggest stage, thus giving her access to her second Olympic Games.
“No one deserves it as much as her. She’s the world number 1 and our best chance for a medal on the team.“, declared Brittany Bowe. The Olympic spirit in all its glory.
“I received this gift from a very close friend”rejoiced the former road skater. “It would be great if we might both get to the top step of the podium in our respective races and share this incredible moment together.”she added last January.
After finishing 10th in the 1500m, there is no doubt that Brittany Bowe will be keen to do better in the 1000m this Thursday. With the objective of reproducing such a feat as her lifelong friend.
