Congo Terminal continues the modernization of the Port of Pointe-Noire

Congo Terminal has taken delivery of the work to extend the embankments of quay D of the port of Pointe-Noire. Started a year ago, this work at a cost of 3 billion FCFA (regarding 5 million euros), increased storage space by 3.5 hectares and will support the increase in volumes following a record year achieved by Congo Terminal with more than one million containers handled.

This new project follows the reconstruction in 2017 of 700 linear meters of quay D and a 3-hectare median. Carried out by a local company, this work is part of the investment plan intended to make the Deep Water Port of Pointe Noire, the ocean gateway to Africa.

Since 2009, Congo Terminal has invested more than 250 billion FCFA (400 million euros) to modernize the container terminal in terms of both infrastructure and equipment. His efforts have enabled him to considerably improve his productivity.

In line with its environmental commitments materialized through the “Green Terminal” labeling process, an approach certified by Bureau Veritas, Congo Terminal has equipped this new storage space, as well as all the other platforms, with LED lighting masts. . The objective is to reduce electricity consumption and therefore greenhouse gas emissions.

This new storage space, which increases our capacity to 45 ha, will allow us to continue the dynamic of import and export flows on the corridors of Congo and offers us the opportunity to meet the expectations of shipowners. “, explains Anthony Samzun, Managing Director of Congo Terminal.
