El Jadida – The autonomous inter-municipal water distribution, electricity and liquid sanitation management company of the provinces of El Jadida and Sidi Bennour (RADEEJ) announced, on Monday, the progress of the construction works of the Sidi Smail wastewater treatment plant up to 50%.
In a press release, the RADEEJ specifies that the project, which required a budget of approximately 9 million dirhams, will play an important role in reducing the harmful effects of wastewater on the environment of the region.
And to add that the new station, which is part of the national program of integrated liquid sanitation and reuse of treated wastewater, will treat some 629 cubic meters of wastewater daily which it receives through a canal. approximately 2.5 km to be processed through several stages.
These are, according to RADEEJ, the pre-treatment of wastewater in order to sort out solid waste and fats, and the biological treatment, which in turn goes through three stages, namely the primary treatment which takes place in anaerobic ponds. , then the effluent flows into the optional basins and then to the maturation basins.
The treated water, which complies with environmental standards, ends up in the drainage channel for excess irrigation water, continues the same source.
The station, which extends over an area of 5 hectares, will have to materialize by mid-2022 and will benefit nearly 8,800 inhabitants of the region, the press release concludes.
