The James Webb Space Telescope sent its first photographic tests to Earth recently. The huge device, which is still adjusting its instruments, even shared its own selfie. He also photographed a bright lone star in the distant constellation Ursa Major.

A star

All the stars you see in this shot are in fact the same ones captured by the different mirrors of the telescope. The latter are not yet well adjusted, hence the random scattering of these images of the star. Eventually, the device will be calibrated so that these 18 stars form a single one. This summer, if all goes well, we will have the chance to obtain unprecedented images of the cosmos, when the telescope instruments are ready.
