Janet Jackson felt ‘guilty by association’ over sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson

In the documentary event “Janet”, which will be broadcast on January 28 on the American channels A&E and Lifetime, the sister of Michael Jackson confessed to having felt “guilty by association” during the trial of the singer in 2005.

The 55-year-old artist has always shown unwavering support for his brother during his various trials for sexual abuse of a minor, including that of 2005 from which he will be acquitted by the courts. And it seems that she plans to tackle this complicated part of her life once more in this two-part documentary, which will look back on her entire career, but also the death of her brother and his troubles with the law.

This isn’t the first time Janet Jackson has spoken out regarding child molestation charges once morest her brother. In 2016, in the documentary Unmasked, she spoke on the subject, and more particularly on the case of Jordan Chandler who, in 1993, had accused Michael Jackson of sexual assault. Before the case is finally settled with a financial settlement that will see the King of Pop sign a multi-million dollar check to the family (and the boy will confess in 2009 to having lied under pressure from his father, who committed suicide a few months later).

“If his son had really been assaulted, do you really think the father would have accepted the money? (…) It does not mean anything. If it was my child, you can give me a billion dollars, I want to see you behind prison bars or dead for inflicting such pain on my child.

In the documentary, Janet Jackson will also return to the scandal of her performance alongside Justin Timberlake at halftime at the Superbowl in 2004 where she “dared” to expose a breast live on television. The singer will be banned from the Grammy Awards following that. “They’re going to be over the top, and when you’re on top, they rush to bring you down,” we hear in the trailer.
