Border controls at the airport: Bern no longer wants to pay
A federal audit points to the fact that Geneva should bear the costs currently paid by the Confederation. Mauro Poggia disagrees.
Genève Aéroport, whose finances are not at their best, and the Canton of Geneva would undoubtedly have done well without this reproach. An audit report from the Federal Financial Control, made public on Monday evening, estimates that the Confederation is paying far too much for services at Cointrin. In concrete terms, Geneva is criticized for leaving it to the Confederation to put their hands in their pockets for the tasks of controlling entry into the territory at the airport, whereas these should be charged to the Canton. And the grievance does not concern a small amount: between 17 and 22 million per year. An “error”, according to the audit, that the Confederation seeks to rectify.
