Cam Reddish has not started his adventures in the Big Apple on the right foot. At first the transfer of him seemed like a wise move by the Knicks, who were paying a ridiculous toll to acquire a young talent eager to expand his game with a change of scenery. However, information soon appeared that revealed that Tom Thibodeau did not see his arrival favorably, which would have been orchestrated by Leon Rose without consulting his technician. Today Fred Katz says in The Athletic that the Knicks tried to retrade him during the last trade close.
According to the journalist, New York was part of a three-way operation with the Lakers and Raptors. For which Reddish and Burks would end up in Los Angeles and Talen Horton-Tucker in Toronto. The only intention of the Knicks in the short term was to lighten their wage bill, so it seems that they would not receive any players in the movement. All three sides looked at a few variants of a failed trade by the Knicks and Raptors. Apparently New York was aiming for a first-round pick, but Toronto wasn’t regarding to drop it because of the players involved in the trade.
Asked regarding it, Reddish answered frankly. “I think I’m a Knicks player. It’s not hard to take, it’s part of the business. I learned it a few weeks ago.” Not having managed to bring the operation to fruition hurts the Lakers above all, for whom he might have meant a new straw to hold on to. However, the Knicks do not achieve any of the objectives with which they approached the last few days of the transfer market. Neither do they improve the squad in order to turn around a disappointing season, nor do they get rid of salaries that will make them pay more than necessary for a mediocre course. Cam Reddish will continue at least until the summer in the New York franchise, where he averages just 12 minutes and 5.4 points per night.
