Opening of the Arab Digital Economy Forum

Yesterday, the activities of the Arab Digital Economy Forum were launched, in the context of the Arab Vision for Digital Economy project, which was announced in Abu Dhabi in December 2018, with the generous support and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. From international institutions and organizations, such as Harvard University, the United Nations and the World Bank.
The conference was held under the patronage of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, at the Expo 2020 Dubai, organized by the Arab Union for Digital Economy. The forum was officially inaugurated in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, His Excellency Yassin Al Mahdi Walid, Prime Minister in charge of Emerging Enterprises and the Knowledge Economy in the State of Algeria, and Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Secretary-General’s Office, and Commissioner-General of the League of Arab States to « Expo 2020» and Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar – President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport – League of Arab States, Dr. Ali Mohamed El Khoury, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Economics, and a number of ambassadors of countries Arab and Arab delegations and a wide international participation.
In his opening speech, His Excellency Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General and Commissioner-General of the League of Arab States, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for hosting this Arab forum, and to His Highness General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for his continuous support For Arab efforts to enhance joint Arab coordination and cooperation

The forum also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, within the framework of the Arab Digital Education Initiative, which is one of the initiatives of the Arab vision for the digital economy announced at the end of 2020. The academy will be one of the first users of the integrated digital platform for education and training professional.
