Park Jong-hwan (87), a former soccer coach who was scammed by an acquaintance, revealed the sad situation of living a wandering life in his 80s.

Former Korean football legend Park, who gave Korea the first quarterfinals before Hiddink, appeared on TV Chosun’s ‘Star Documentary My Way’, which was broadcast on the 13th, and revealed his turbulent life history.

Former coach Park emerged as a soccer hero by beating world powers Mexico and Uruguay at the 1983 World Youth Soccer Championships in Mexico and creating a miraculous semifinal myth. After that, he took the baton of the national team and achieved three consecutive professional victories. After that, he served as the founding manager of Daegu FC and Seongnam FC from the first president of the Korean Women’s Football Federation, continuing his reputation as the oldest soccer manager in the K-League in Korea.

However, although he achieved splendid success in football, his activities began to slow due to various controversies and personal affairs, and he suddenly disappeared, making everyone curious.

On this day, former coach Park Jong-hwan said, “I lent money to 7 or 8 of my friends and seniors. He gave everything he had, not hundreds of thousands of won. He didn’t receive even a single penny and gave it to me, but I mightn’t even see his face.” He believed and waited, but never got a penny back. It may seem glamorous to anyone looking at it, but it is a very miserable life.”

To make matters worse, he confessed that he was living alone in a shelter following his wife passed away. “I hate being indebted to, and I have a lot of pride. As I was traveling alone, it was very difficult to be at my daughter’s house and at a junior’s house. She lives on an old-age pension of 300,000 won and her son’s allowance of 300,000 won. Living is a mess,” he said, causing regret.

Above all, he, who suffered from depression and anxiety, said, “I am old, so I have many friends, but I have many disciples. It is difficult for me to call my disciples first. It causes severe dizziness, and it hurts my heart.”

In this broadcast, former coach Park visited the ‘second hometown’ of Chuncheon and revealed his special relationship with Son Heung-min. He said, “I came here for Son Heung-min when I was in elementary school and trained for a month. He works very hard.”
