Even if Sifu has been out for less than a week, the title is already celebrating a major feat. the developer sloclap has just announced that Sifu has surpassed half a million sales since he arrived on February 8th, and little by little he continues to recruit more players both in PlayStation like on PC.
Perhaps one of the most innovative games in recent memory, Sifu blends the kung fu genre with a roguelike that features unique combat mechanics. The combination has proven to be obviously successful for Sloclap, as it has not only generated excellent sales on all platforms where it is available, but has also garnered positive feedback from critics.
However, all indicate that Sifu’s difficulty increases quite quickly. According to PlayStation Trophy data, most players get stuck on the second level of the game. However, the developers have promised players additional difficulty adjustments as well as accessibility options in a future update.
The story takes place in a city in China, where a group of five martial artists consisting of Fajar “the Botanist”, Sean “the Fighter”, Kuroki “the Artist”, Jinfeng “the CEO” and Yang “the Leader” attack a martial arts school massacring all the students.
Yang then confronts the school’s sifu and demands that he hand over the knowledge he seeks, revealing himself to be a former student. The sifu resists and is killed by Yang, who subsequently finds the sifu’s son and orders Fajar to kill him.
However, the boy is revived thanks to a magical talisman, although its power is limited as each time it is used, the user will suffer accelerated aging. In this way, the young man will try to defeat all the teachers who destroyed his father’s school, but he will have to be careful not to lose his life in the process, either due to the talisman or his opponents.
