2 . Honduras recognized the Sahrawi Republic in November 1989.

The visit to the Saharawi Republic is also an act of reciprocity to the recent visit to Honduras, on January 27, by Foreign Minister Ould Salek to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of our President Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento de Zela. And therefore, it is part of the friendship, of the solidarity between our peoples and our governments.
4 . The government of our President Xiomara Castro reaffirms through this visit the recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and intends to deepen and strengthen it with a concrete agenda between peoples.
This first visit to the SADR and to the other brotherly countries of the African Union is in line with the definition of the new government’s foreign policy, which aims to build a “citizen, Central American and Latin American, sovereign and united international relations policy”. .
