  • A young Thai woman was fired because she wanted to be vaccinated once morest the corona virus.

  • The young woman then described the time with the host family as “the most difficult time in her life”.

A Thai woman came to Switzerland as an au pair to get a taste of Swiss air for a year and to get to know the culture. At the beginning of December she started with the host family in Eastern Switzerland, where she wanted to start work immediately. But she describes the following weeks to the «Sunday newspaper» as «the most difficult time in her life».

She came to a host family who sees a life-threatening risk in the corona vaccination. That is why they would not have tolerated any vaccinated people in their environment. Her only social contacts are her family and her two children, a first-grader and a pre-school girl.

When compulsory certificates are introduced in Switzerland, the young woman decides inwardly to get vaccinated – but does not dare to tell the host family. Although she knew before her trip to Switzerland that her host parents did not believe in the Covid vaccination, she had not taken it seriously. But during the stay of several weeks, she often heard the host mother, who works as a pharmacist, speak very negatively regarding the vaccination. The family had also previously cut off contact with vaccinated family members.

Afraid of getting infected with Omicron, she sought help

However, since the young woman is increasingly afraid of being infected, she seeks help from the grandparents of a friend who live in Switzerland. They in turn controlled the employment contract that was drawn up through the organization Pro Filia: There is nothing there regarding a vaccination ban. So they try to mediate with the family through the agency, but it backfires.

Shortly therefollowing, she presents the host mother with a decision: either she stays or goes back to Thailand. There is no vaccination, the host mother “does not want anyone to die in front of her children,” she quotes the “SonntagsZeitung”, but then denies the incident when asked. The description of the au pair is abbreviated and does not correspond to the facts. She would only have explained to her that every “intervention in the body – including a vaccination – basically represents a risk to health and life,” she writes, referring to ominous sources that report deaths from the vaccination.

Since the young woman was intimidated following talking to her host mother, she initially stayed with the family. On a family trip to a nearby country, things get so bad for her that she becomes increasingly isolated, she is dependent on her family, they don’t give her any cash, and she doesn’t have a SIM card that works in the country. Vaccination has always been a topic of discussion. On New Year’s Eve, she receives a handwritten notice of termination. The young woman’s host family puts the food in front of the door, communication only via Whatsapp. After all, she can still go back to Switzerland with her family.

Host family denies the allegations

Here, too, denials: Compared to the «Sunday newspaper» the host mother claims that she gave notice to the au pair because she had spread untruths regarding the family at the agency. In addition, there would have been differences in the payment of the au pair. Regarding the accusation that they didn’t give her any cash during the holidays, she says that the young woman’s expenses were all paid for. They also refuse to take over the au pair’s return flight in accordance with cantonal regulations.

After a long search, she finally finds a job as an au pair with a family in Austria that also tolerates the vaccination.
