A bear on private property leads to tragedy in the United States. A man wants to shoot the animal but makes a mistake loading his gun. When the police arrive following an emergency call, there is not much they can do.

In the US state of Oregon, an attempt to kill a bear has ended in the deaths of two brothers. A man apparently accidentally shot his brother while loading his gun and committed suicide as a result.

The man called 911 himself and said he accidentally killed his brother while loading the gun, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said. He had wanted to point the gun at a bear that was on his property.

When the police officers arrived, they found men with gunshot wounds at two different locations on private property, in one case apparently “self-inflicted”. The sheriff’s office said the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation. What became of the bear was not disclosed.

Gun ownership is very common in the United States. Violent acts and accidents involving weapons are not uncommon. According to the CDC, regarding 45,000 people die from firearms in the United States every year – more than in traffic accidents.
