Protest against Chinese embassy in South Korea

Conservative group urges China to apologize for bias

Amid the growing anti-Chinese sentiment over the short track bias judgment at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, a conservative civic group held a protest in front of the Chinese embassy in Korea.

The conservative civic group People of Justice held a rally in front of the Seoul Central Post Office near the Chinese Embassy in Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 11th and demanded that “China apologize for its bias in the Olympic Games.” They even tore the Chinese flag, the Five Stars and Red Flag, by hand.

Lee Eun-taek, president of the Just People, said, “I came out because I thought this was not the case while watching the Beijing Olympic Games. A woman said, “Athletes put their lives into one Olympics, and biased judgments are breaking the dreams of young people.”

On the 7th, in the men’s 1000m short track semifinals at the Olympic Games on the 7th, two Korean athletes entered the group 1st and 2nd, but were disqualified and eliminated. Chinese players occupied all the vacant seats following Korea’s disqualification from the semi-finals and advanced to the finals, sparking controversy over bias judgments.
