Contreras lists possible places for a new psychiatric hospital

According to the legislator, there is a lack of specialists in Chihuahua who care for minors in mental health matters, since in the current Psychiatric Hospital of the city they do not provide care to children under 17 years of age.

The mental health center for children and adolescents would seek to build it on land that belongs to the Municipality, for this the negotiations with the government of Marco Bonilla will be important.

In terms of location, they contemplate options such as the area of Campus II of the UACH or the Peripheral of Youth, at the height of the José David Institute. They also consider spaces in the south or east, but it is yet to be defined.

He hopes that the efforts will progress in the long run to give good news in this regard.

Given this situation, since September of last year they had the first talks with civil organizations, such as the Order of Saint John of God, in order to guarantee the health of children and so that they can have a life free of violence.

Contreras pointed out that according to data from Rosy Hernández, director of the recently created Municipal Institute for Prevention and Health Care, the age of children who think regarding suicide is getting younger and there is no way to channel them.

He added that the new hospital is not for hospitalizing children, but will be an outpatient hospital.
