(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Ji-yeon = U.S. President Joe Biden on the 10th (local time) recommended that Americans leave Ukraine immediately, amid growing military threats from Russia.

In an interview with NBC that aired on the same day, President Biden warned that “American citizens must leave immediately.”

“We’re not dealing with a terrorist organization, we’re dealing with one of the largest military forces in the world,” he said.

When asked if he would send U.S. troops to Ukraine to help evacuate Americans under certain circumstances, he drew a line, saying “it won’t happen,” he added, adding that “if the US and Russia start shooting at each other, it’s a world war.”

Biden also said he did not expect Russian President Vladimir Putin to do anything that would negatively affect American citizens.

When asked if he had ever talked to Putin regarding this, Biden replied, “Yes.”

When asked once more by the host, “Did you ever tell Putin that the Americans mightn’t touch the line?” Biden replied, “I didn’t have to say that. He knows that.”

The U.S. State Department also issued a travel advisory for its own citizens on the same day, stating, “Due to the growing threat of Russian military action and the COVID-19 situation, do not travel to Ukraine.” “he said.

He also warned that the US would not be able to evacuate its citizens in the event of Russian military action in Ukraine. It also said routine consular operations, including departure assistance, would be severely affected.

Currently, the confrontation between the West and Russia over Ukraine is escalating. Russia and Belarus, a neighboring country, started a large-scale joint exercise from that day.
