Battlefield 2042 experienced a catastrophic launch, as dozens of bugs and countless technical problems significantly diminished the experience. However, the greatest sin is his philosophy. Clearly, many design decisions are highly questionable, something one former DICE creative veteran agrees with.

Last week, Electronic Arts disclosed at its most recent investor meeting that Battlefield 2042 did not meet expectations, although he acknowledged that his poor commercial performance had no effect on general revenue. The latter was due to Apex Legends is a success and is already the company’s flagship shooter.

Given this, David Goldfarb, formerly of DICE, stated on his Twitter account that the news is “deeply disappointing.” Several days later, he spoke more deeply regarding some of the most important problems that plague Battlefield 2042.

David Goldfarb criticized the Battlefield 2042 design

The former DICE member, who served as lead designer and writer on Battlefield Bad Company 2 Y Battlefield 3, commented that he still does not play the most recent installment nor has he seen much regarding it. Therefore, he was surprised when he discovered, through a video, many of the problems that plague the game.

“I really try to understand why some of these design decisions were made. Why are there no smaller infantry maps? Why was the 128 player count something that apparently didn’t have any room for infantry? Why are there full maps without any artistic detail?” commented the former DICE creative.

In a subsequent tweet, David Goldfarb asked how so many glitches made it to the final version of the game. “There was no one to monitor the quality? Who thought this honored the sandbox experience of Battlefield?”.

Without a doubt, there are thousands of people who think the same as David Goldfarb. In fact, the discontent for the multiplayer shooter is such that even the community came together to request bulk refunds. Without a doubt, this beloved franchise is going through one of its worst moments, so it will be interesting to discover if DICE and Electronic Arts will be able to come back.

But tell us, do you agree with the developer’s statements? Let us read you in the comments.
