Dennis Schröder traded from the Boston Celtics to the Houston Rockets for Daniel Theis

The Boston Celtics messed up their roster with two trades on Deadline Day. Among others, it hit Dennis Schröder, who was traded to the Houston Rockets for his buddy Daniel Theis.

Schröder has to go to Houston first, but it’s still unclear whether he’ll stay there for the rest of the season. Like Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) reported, a buyout is also an option, so that the Braunschweiger can possibly look for another team in the coming weeks.

Schröder still has a contract until the end of the season, in Boston the point guard completed 49 games in which he recorded an average of 14.4 points and 4.2 assists. The Rockets also received Enes Freedom and Bruno Fernando, with the former set to be released in the near future.

Theis, on the other hand, returns to Boston following only a year. The German international landed with the Bulls in a three-team trade with Washington and Chicago last March before signing a four-year deal worth almost $36 million in Texas in the summer.

In Houston, however, the 29-year-old quickly fell out of the rotation because the fit with Christian Wood was never there. Instead, Theis was only center number three behind Wood and rookie Alperen Sengün. In 26 games, Theis averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds.
