The Val-de-Marne wants to improve the return to employment of beneficiaries

In the Val-de-Marne, the number of beneficiaries of the
active solidarity income (RSA) worries local elected officials. At the beginning of 2022, the department counted some 45,000 beneficiaries of this social benefit, reports The Parisian. Half are accompanied by Pôle emploi, the other depends on the
departmental council.

At the helm for a little more than six months, the new executive (LR) wants to put in place “an active policy of return to employment of RSA recipients”, entrusted to our colleagues the new president of the department, Olivier Capitanio.

304 million euros in 2021

In practice, the Presidency wants to impose the mandatory signing of a reciprocal employment contract (REB) by all 22,000 recipients under the department. Currently, 14,000 of them have not signed this contract that determines the actions to be carried out by both parties.

The Department undertakes to increase the number of counsellors and social workers and to finance the fixed costs of beneficiaries by delivering “access to employment kits”. In 2021, the departmental council had dedicated 304 million euros to the payment of the RSA.
