Protective measures: alarm systems for bicycles are becoming increasingly popular

Have you ever had a bicycle stolen? And have you ever seen it once more? Countless thefts are reported to the police every year – but there is still no trace of the perpetrators. It is hardly surprising why more and more people are relying on mobile alarm systems. Even with your bike.
Although the number of bicycle thefts in Germany is slightly decreasing, the resulting amount of damage continues to increase. This is sometimes due to the fact that more and more people are buying expensive bicycles: especially e-bikes are currently particularly popular. With the right bicycle lock, a quick theft should be prevented, but they usually do not really act as a deterrent – in contrast to a mobile alarm system, which is supposed to expose the potential thief with the help of a loud beep. We present you three different models of different price ranges.
Bicycle alarm system: three models compared
1. Fosmon alarm system
This waterproof model is simply attached to the bike somewhere, preferably on a clean surface: for installation, you will need either glue (included in the package), or else you will use cable ties. The mobile alarm system is activated via a remote control, which allows you to set seven different sensitivity levels. 2. Alarm system from Abus
Significantly more expensive to purchase, the Bicycle alarm system from Abus a so–called “3D position detection” – in other words, the sensors contained in it detect even the smallest vibrations in all three dimensions. The small box is attached with the help of shortening metal straps, which are included in the scope of delivery. If someone tries to steal the bike, a signal with a volume of 100 decibels sounds, which is regarding the same as a circular saw. The alarm is activated at the push of a button, deactivated with a key.
3. Alarm system from M-Wave
By means of pipe fastening, this alarm system is installed on the bicycle. A three-digit code must then be entered to activate the device – here, too, different levels of sensitivity can be set. The integrated motion sensor sounds an alarm as soon as someone tries to steal the bike. Equipped with 120 decibels, the warning signal is extremely loud and a deterrent for thieves. So you see that one Bicycle alarm system with over 100 decibels is extremely loud when it emits a warning signal. In other words, not only the thief hears the alarm, but certainly also one or the other neighbor. Ideally, a long finger quickly leaves the bike and disappears quickly – without a bike.
