The Ministry of Health and population announced the launch of a campaign to provide family planning and reproductive health services and means free of charge in all governorates of the Republic, under the slogan “your right to organize”, during the period from February 13 to March 10.
This comes within the periodic campaigns conducted by the ministry to control the rates of population increase in the framework of attention to the health and development of the family and the realization of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and population, said that the campaign will be implemented in all governorates of the Republic, including remote and underserved areas, in addition to the villages and areas where the president’s initiative (life is decent) is being implemented, in two phases, the first from 13 to 24 February, in the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, Alexandria, Beni Suef, Dakahlia, Kafr el-Sheikh, Assiut, Qena, Aswan, the New Valley and South Sinai.
“Abdul Ghaffar” added that the second phase of the campaign will be launched on February 27 and will continue until March 10 in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Western, Eastern, Beheira, Damietta, Ismailia, Suez, Port Said, Marsa Matrouh, Red Sea, Sohag, Luxor and North Sinai, pointing out that the campaign aims to provide free family planning services and means, in addition to supporting the Egyptian lady and raising health awareness of the Egyptian family.
“Abdul Ghaffar” stressed that a distinguished set of safe and effective family planning methods will be provided free of charge to raise the rates of use of family planning methods, through trained teams, and obstetrics and gynecology specialists, to sign the medical examination, pointing out that family planning methods are disbursed through fixed units, urban centers, public and central hospitals, maternity and child care centers, and through mobile clinics that provide service in remote areas.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, head of population and family planning sector, pointed out that the campaign provides awareness services within the “our days are sweeter” initiative to raise health awareness for different age and community groups, through raising awareness of the importance of family planning and its impact on maternal and child health, while adhering to precautionary measures and social distancing to prevent coronavirus, in coordination with education directorates, NGOs and local councils.
“Abbas” said that exhibitions will be held for women’s clubs during the campaign to develop their own capabilities and give them more expertise, which helps to empower them economically, where the display of handicrafts, leather and sewing and knitting works produced by the beneficiaries following training them through women’s clubs officials, in the belief of the importance of supporting the development of women and raising the economic level of Egyptian families and raising the ability of women to make decisions, especially the decision to have children, and within the objectives of improving the population characteristics.
