Recently, a tragic story has been told in Italy that shows a cross-section of solitude. An elderly dog who hid in a chair was found in a mummy state following being left behind for more than two years following his death.
On the 9th(local time), the body of Marinella Beretta, a 70-year-old woman, was found in a house in Como, Lombardy, northern Italy, according to major foreign sources such as CNN in the United States.
Beretta received a resident report that a large tree had fallen in his garden and was found by fire crews who were on the scene to check it out. He was said to have been a natural mummy as he sat in a living room chair.
Police are conducting an investigation into the alleged death of a lone man as no clues or circumstances have been picked up at the scene to suspect the crime. “The cause of death is unknown, and inspectors have confirmed the state of decay of his body, confirming that he died at the end of 2019,”said Francesca Manfredi, Como City Hall spokeswoman.
Beretta reportedly had no relatives to care for him in his life. Police are investigating whether he has a surviving family member.
Beretta’s remains are currently in storage in the ensconced room. The funeral date has not yet been set.
When this news came, Italian Minister of Equal Opportunity Elena Bonetti wrote through Social Relations Network Services(SNS)that she “feels remorse for what happened to Marinella Beretta and its forgotten loneliness.” “We have a duty to remember (Beretta’s) life as a community that hopes for solidarity,”he said, adding, “No one should be left alone.”
