Covid-19: 255 dead in hospital in 24 hours, hospitalizations stable

It’s a day that seems to allow you to see the end of the tunnel. The government considered, via the spokesman Gabriel Attal, that there are “reasons to hope” that “at the end of March early April we can lift the vaccination pass”, due to the improvement of the health situation, he said on Wednesday, at the exit of the Council of Ministers.

“La baisse franche, nous y sommes,” s’est réjoui Gabriel Attal. A decrease that can be clearly seen in the figures of the number of new cases published by Public Health France in recent days.

On the other hand, this slowdown in the epidemic is not (yet) obvious in hospitals. Another 2,614 new entries of people diagnosed positive for Covid-19 were registered on Wednesday (3,060 yesterday), compared to 3,230 a week ago. In total, 32,878 patients treated in hospitals are positive for Covid, compared to 32,720 seven days ago. A very high, almost record high level, which seems to be starting to stagnate. However, be careful, almost 30% of them, despite their infection, are not being treated for Covid but for another reason.

More than 37 million booster doses injected

The most serious cases, hospitalized due to the coronavirus, taken care of in critical care services, are decreasing with 3,503 sick this Wednesday evening (3,555 yesterday) compared to 3,700 a week ago. There have been 296 new entries in the last 24 hours, up from 366 a week ago. The number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic, almost two years ago, stands at 133,541, with 255 deaths, following infection, notified to the hospital in the last 24 hours.

On the vaccination side, while a fourth dose has once more been rejected by the government’s “mr vaccine”, Professor Alain Fischer, the recall campaign for the third dose seems to mark the step. Almost 200,000 booster injections have still been carried out in the last 24 hours and 19,000 first injections (compared to 14,000 yesterday). The mark of 37 million people who received a booster dose has been crossed.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in France, 54,134,744 people have received at least one injection (or 80.3% of the total population) and 52,992,487 people now have a complete vaccination regimen (or 78.6% of the total population).
