On Tuesday, February 8, in London, the great mass of British music crowned the singer in three categories: best album of the year, best song and artist of the year, for her latest album 30. For the first time in its history, the Brit Awards ceremony has removed its gendered categories, to reward nominated artists “solely for their work and music rather than for how they choose to identify themselves or how others may perceive them,” according to the organizers.
“I understand why they changed the name of this award but I really like being a woman, a female artist, really,” said British singer Adele, scooping her three awards. The 34th Brit Awards honoured artists in thirteen categories. Discover the full awards of the evening :
