Corona case in the Spanish royal house: King Felipe VI has tested positive. The monarch showed the first symptoms at night.

Now Spain’s King Felipe VI (54) has also caught it: As the Royal House announced on Wednesday (February 9), the 54-year-old has tested positive for the coronavirus following showing mild symptoms overnight. King Felipe will now isolate himself in his residence for seven days and carry out official duties from there. His general state of health is good, they say.

Felipe’s wife, Queen Letizia (49), and their younger daughter Sofía (14) show no symptoms and can continue their planned appointments in compliance with the corona conditions. Her older daughter Leonor (16) is currently attending a boarding school in Wales and is therefore not on site.

Corona is with the Danish Royals

On February 9, the Danish Royal House also reported a corona case: Queen Margrethe II (81) is affected. The monarch is showing “only mild symptoms” and is now staying at the Palais Schack, according to a statement. However, the Queen’s planned winter holiday had to be cancelled.
