Infection with Sars-CoV-2 increases the risk of a number of cardiovascular diseases in the year following infection. This is shown by a new large-scale US study with millions of health data.

The coronavirus also increases the long-term risk of heart and circulatory diseases.

Six months following a Covid infection, 25 out of 100 people in Switzerland still suffer from long-term consequences. Three out of 100 are even very badly affected, as Milo Puhan from the University of Zurich explained this week in Bern at the FOPH’s specialist media conference.
