Four meters long, 400 pounds heavy: hunter killed 80-year-old alligator in Florida – news abroad

Florida – What a fat thing!

In Okeechobee County (US state Florida), a hunter shot an 80-year-old, 400-pound, four-meter-long alligator. The animal had lived in a private lake for decades. But the bigger the stately reptile got over the years, the more the property owner worried regarding his family.

When the alligator then also tore the farmer’s calves on the premises, the successful professional hunter (nine world records, 36 state records) stepped in. Borries shot the huge beast on an island in the middle of the lake. With a headshot! The animal withdrew into the water, and the men then took the carcass from the bottom of the water!

The alligator’s 400 kilos of meat were eaten. Borries now wants to have a life-size mount made from the head and the rest of the animal. Animal rights activists had previously campaigned unsuccessfully once morest the hunt for the very old alligator storm.
