Dengue fever cases still on the rise

Dengue fever cases continue to rise. Here is the press release from the ARS:

From January 10 to 23, 95 cases of dengue were confirmed ( once morest 69 for the previous fortnight) in 15 municipalities. The number of cases continues to increase but remains lower than in previous years over the same period.

The cases are still mainly in the South and West. The first two clusters of cases (foci of transmission) are still active (Le Butor in Saint-Joseph and Basse-Terre in Saint-Pierre). The ARS and Santé Publique France have set up enhanced surveillance of these areas. In particular, information and awareness-raising operations for the population by health professionals have taken place. Other clusters of cases have appeared in recent weeks in Plateau Caillou, Saint-Paul and Saint-Joseph.

The current weather conditions are very favorable to the proliferation of mosquitoes, raising fears of a resumption of the epidemic in the weeks to come.

The entire population must maintain preventive measures to avoid contracting the disease: remove anything that may contain water at home to prevent mosquitoes from proliferating, protect themselves with repellent and mosquito nets, consult a doctor at the first symptoms and do not hesitate to consult once more in the event of aggravation of the state of health.
