26-year-old Kim In-hyuk was filmed on social media on Thursday night, saying “goodbye and good night” to the camera. He was found dead at home the next day, and the police are investigating the cause of his death. The Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance Club, which Kim In Hyuk played for, posted a candlelit photo on its official website and wrote, “We express our deepest condolences on the unfortunate news of Kim In Hyuk, who is so passionate and yearning for volleyball, which is very sad. We also express our condolences to the families of the deceased.”

Kim In Hyuk, who used to wear makeup and was attacked and criticized by netizens, made him feel uncomfortable in an article in August last year, urging the outside world to stop malicious attacks on him. The 26-year-old played for South Korea in the Asian Cup, but injuries have affected his chances in recent years. This is not the first time a similar tragedy has occurred in Korean sports. A women’s volleyball player was also found to have committed suicide at home in 2020. Korean media said at the time that she had been criticized by coaches and cyberbullied.
