At the end of last year, the hosts of the Nintendo Minute Kate and Krista aired the last episode After 8 years and more than 400 episodes.
There were a lot of questions raised regarding their sudden departure, and they have now talked regarding this themselves during an interview with their YouTube channel MINMAX. As suspected – it’s all regarding Nintendo shutdown San Francisco office in California, as they prepare to start a “new chapter” rather than move to Nintendo’s US headquarters.
Q: Why did they leave, obviously [Nintendo] San Francisco office closed, but why would you choose to go out here?
several: This was the reason, I mean it’s actually very simple…the office we were in in California is closing down. To the company’s credit, everyone was given the option to move to Redmond. And I think that was a point of reflection for us – it’s time to think regarding what we’ve done and accomplished and what we might be able to do in the future. No, I think we’re happy here – we’re both from this area, so it’s a new chapter.
Krista: I would say closing the office was definitely a trigger to think regarding what might be next…Being somewhere for 13-14 years, you can’t help but think that maybe it’s time for a change, maybe it’s time for something different, as much as we both love working at Nintendo .
As for Kit and Krysta’s ‘next chapter’, here’s what they had to say:
several: We had an amazing influx of fans when we finished Nintendo Minute and when we left NIntendo, it really opened our eyes to the importance fans place in the Nintendo Minute – which was impressive. So I think we’re in a place where we really want to keep creating content together, you know probably in a different way than we were before, so we’re looking at what it might be, what it might look like and hopefully we’ll have more to share soon.”
Krista: I will say that the connection and relationship that we’ve been able to build with the community with the Nintendo Minute is something very special to us and mightn’t have been a more poignant moment when we saw this influx of this community – so that’s the relationship we want to maintain with this community. Keep interacting with people who watch Nintendo Minute, who love video games… We really want to continue this relationship… That will be the gist of what we hope to do next.
So there you are – that’s exactly why there’s no Kit and Krysta on Nintendo. And now we kind of Find out regarding their future plans. Kate has been with Nintendo for 13 years, and Krista has been with the company for over 14 years.
