Thanks to Steam, one can easily compile a list of the most anticipated games of the year. Indeed, Valve relies on users’ wishlists to find out which games excite players the most. At the top of the list, there is an RPG that may be responsible for a lot of broken controllers (or keyboards).
Valve has just updated its ranking of the most anticipated games of the year by gamers. Steam, and therefore PC gamers. We find everything: triple A but also a lot of promising independent games. We’re not going to make the suspense last, the most anticipated game of 2022 is none other thanElden Ring, a hyper-ambitious RPH on which George R.R Martin, the father of Game of Thrones, worked. It is also a game signed Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creators of the games Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice and Bloodborne, games known for their legendary difficulty.
Elden Ring is described as a spin-off of the saga Dark Souls, we must therefore expect a disturbing universe with delirious artistic direction and level design. But also, as dogs do not make cats, you have to be prepared for a high difficulty which risks overcoming a lot of players. The game is scheduled for release February 25, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Triple A’s in the land of indie games
Elden Ring is thus ahead of Dying Light 2, a game also highly anticipated this year. As a reminder Dying Light invites you to dive into a city infested with zombies and bandits and show off your parkour skills to follow. The game promises an exceptional lifespan (regarding 500 hours!) with, as a bonus, a cooperative mode that is likely to appeal to a lot of groups of friends.
In the rest of the ranking of the most anticipated games on Steam, there are a lot of independent games such as a new DLC from Hollow Knight or other new games that promise refreshing experiences. Because there are still a few triple A’s in the list. One can, for example, cite God of War which will finally make its way to PCs around the world. Players are also waiting for the complete collection of Uncharted, new Total War: WARHAMMER 3 or the brand new S.T.A.L.K.E.R which will allow players to explore and survive in the radioactive lands of Chernobyl.
