In a ruling issued for the first time, an Egyptian court revoked the custody of a mother from her child, because of a circulated photo of him showing him smoking a hookah with a white weapon next to him.
Today, Tuesday, the family court in Aswan, southern Egypt, decided to revoke the custody of the aforementioned mother.
harshest punishment
The court decided to include the 4-year-old child, Adham Muhammad Saber, and his sister, Hawa, for the paternal grandmother in Case No. 2077 of 2021, due to neglect and poor upbringing on the part of the mother, as the harshest punishment that can be imposed on her.
The events of the case are due to the spread of an image on social media, showing a 4-year-old child smoking a hookah inside the mother’s house in his critics center in Qena governorate.
It turned out that the mother and father had decided to separate, and the court had earlier decided to grant her custody of her two children, and following the spread of the picture, the father had to file a lawsuit, demanding that she drop the custody of the child from his mother, and the annexation of the youngster and his sister to the grandmother due to the mother’s neglect.
The court considered that the image showed gross neglect in raising and raising the two children, and exposing them to danger, and therefore decided to immediately revoke the custody of the mother.
