A man who was to meet a client following selling an item online was stabbed Monday night in the borough of Anjou, Montreal.
According to the police, the victim, a man in his thirties, went to avenue Émile Legault to meet someone who was to buy him an object, following making contact via an online transaction platform.
However, the man was greeted by two young men in their twenties. For a reason that remained to be clarified, the transaction went wrong and the victim was stabbed in the upper body, explained Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service.
The injuries sustained by the victim were not life threatening.
The two suspects fled on Avenue Jean Desprez and were still being sought at the end of the evening.
The police have opened an investigation to try to find them.
This event reminds us of the importance of being careful when meeting a buyer for a property sold online via platforms such as Kijiji or Marketplace.
Moreover, in Montreal, two secure areas located in the courtyard of neighborhood police stations 20, on rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest in Ville-Marie, and 46, on boulevard Joseph-Renaud in Anjou, are available to citizens to be able to carry out transactions in complete security.
