A strong snow roller will move across large parts of Austria on Monday. The highest level of weather warning purple has been issued.
Snow alert on Monday in Austria! Heavy snow falls in the evening across large parts of the country, and the increased weather warning level has been declared in several federal states. In Vorarlberg and Tyrol there is currently even the highest weather warning level purple!
It is also snowing in the federal states of Salzburg, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Styria and Carinthia, where the red weather warning applies. A storm warning was issued for the federal capital Vienna. Only in Burgenland is the weather still calm.
Below regarding 600 meters, there will be a temporary increase in rain, but in the evening the snow line will drop back down into the valleys. First in the west, then in the followingnoon also in the Danube region and in the east, stronger, sometimes stormy westerly winds will pick up once more.
Even snow at night
In the evening and at night it snows persistently and heavily in the northern Alps, the snow line sinks down to the valleys. Plenty of fresh snow can be expected in the Arlberg region, but it’s also snowing heavily in the classic congested areas from the Ausserfern to the Salzkammergut.
Am Tuesday it often snows from Vorarlberg to Upper Styria, the intensity temporarily decreases during the day, but intensifies once more in the evening and spreads at night. In the Danube region and in the east, strong westerly to north-westerly winds with sometimes stormy gusts will be accompanied by occasional snow showers and, in the lowest elevations, rain or sleet showers. In the south it remains mostly dry and at times sunny, but from Osttirol via the Oberes Murtal to the Fischbacher Alpen there is a sometimes stormy north foehn blowing.

In the mountains it is snowing heavily and persistently, in the Danube region as well as in the east and south, on the other hand, the dry sections become more frequent during the day. The sun also shows up here in the followingnoon from time to time. The wind will blow strongly, in exposed locations in the east even stormy from west to north-west.
