Israeli President sends message of coexistence between religions in the Emirates

Dubai, Jan 30 (EFE).- The Israeli president, Isaac Herzog, sent this Sunday following his arrival in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) a message addressed to the faithful of the monotheistic religions of the entire Middle East region, affirming that they can “reside and live together” peacefully.

In the first visit of an Israeli head of state to this Arab country, Herzog said that he is in the UAE to send “a message to the entire region that there is an alternative of peace and coexistence, and that the sons and daughters of Abraham can reside and live together in peaceful coexistence for the benefit of humanity,” the Israeli Presidency said in a statement.

After landing in Abu Dhabi, on a historic two-day visit with his wife, Michal, the president traveled to the royal palace in the Emirati capital, where he had a two-hour meeting with the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and a strong man of the country, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“We are two successful nations that started with very little in our hands, developed our land into a paradise, and in many ways set an example to the world of how to lead and develop a forward-thinking nation,” Herzog said, according to the note.

He added that the “message of peace” sent today by both is “the cornerstone” of the bilateral relationship and urged other countries in the region to “join” the Abraham Accords, by which Israel and the UAE formalized their diplomatic relations. in September 2020, with the mediation of Washington.

Also, the two leaders reviewed the opportunities to “develop cooperation at all levels, especially in the economic, commercial, investment and development fields, in addition to technology, health and others,” said the official Emirati news agency WAM .

For his part, Bin Zayed assured that relations between the two countries “advance (like a train) at full steam” and affirmed that through peace they can “pave the way for a better future”, according to the statement from the Presidency Israeli.

He stressed that “one of the results of this peace” is Israel’s participation in Expo 2020 in Dubai, where Herzog will go tomorrow to celebrate the national day dedicated to his country at the universal exhibition.

After the official meeting, the crown prince invited the Israeli president to an “unplanned” private meeting in his palace, which lasted two hours and represents “a declaration of peace and alliance between the UAE and the State of Israel,” according to another statement from The presidency.

At that meeting, Herzog informed his host that he has given the name “Abraham accords” to a pediatric medicine conference, in which the knowledge and experience of the Schneider Children’s Medical Center will be shared, the note added.

In addition to his meeting with Bin Zayed, on the official agenda there are meetings with the Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Nahyan, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Defense Minister of the UAE, Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktum, and representatives of the Jewish community in this country.

Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Benet also made history by being the first Israeli head of government to visit the UAE, where he stressed the desire to “deepen and strengthen cooperation, peace between the two countries and economic relations” .
