The fiscal in charge of the case death of the woman in the San Miguel prison, Renzo Razeto, gave the first instructions and ordered that the personnel of the Brigida de Homicides of the Investigative Police would initiate the proceedings to find out what happened that day.
But that’s not all, as Razeto requested that the Legal Medical Service developed an autopsy under the Minnesota Protocol on Potentially Wrongful Deaths, this because the woman was in the custody of the State.
In this same line, Gendarmerie the same pronounced through a statement clarifying that “at the time of presenting health complications, she was immediately transferred to an external hospital”.
“She was taken twice to the Penal Hospital, where she received medical attention, due to severe abdominal pain. From this health facility, she was urgently transferred to the Barros Luco Hospital, where she died at 9:00 p.m. yesterday,” the document said.
In addition, they added that when the news was released, it generated “disorder and violent actions towards the officials.”
Likewise, they assure that they will cooperate with the investigation process. “It should be noted that the cause of death is under investigation and that the Chilean Gendarmerie maintains its commitment to ensure the respect and care of those in its custody.”.
Let us remember that the deceased was Milena Cards, a 50-year-old woman, he was for several days requesting medical attention for severe stomach pains, and only on Saturday was she transferred to the Barros Luco Hospital, her death being early Sunday morning.
