For the Lunar New Year, Chinese pay a treat to their doggie

Influenced by social media, many young Chinese over-pamper their pets. And no longer hesitate to offer them dishes that are similar to those that humans consume, says the South China Morning Post.

“Wang Jianing never spares money when it comes to his cat – a Russian blue named Doudou – and his two dogs – a miniature poodle and a Maltese named Yomi and Neinei”, Write the South China Morning Post. And for the Lunar New Year, she decided to pamper her little ones by ordering them online for 399 yuan (56 euros) a tray of food. On the photo of the meal that the Hong Kong newspaper publishes, we find “carrot soup, tiger heads made with omelette rice, stuffed tofu, mussels, cheese shrimp, squash and cheese biscuits, meat cupcakes as well as dim sum [raviolis] with chicken, cod, duck and purple yam”.
