Seoul North Korea has reportedly tested ballistic missiles once more. South Korea’s chief of staff said on Sunday that North Korea had fired several projectiles towards the sea off its east coast. The Japanese coast guard also reported a suspected missile launch by North Korea.

If confirmed, it would be the seventh ballistic missile test this year. In his New Year’s speech, head of state Kim Jong Un said he wanted to upgrade the North Korean military with the latest technology. North Korea on Friday confirmed testing four missiles in the past week, including two launches of long-range cruise missiles.

Actually, North Korea is prohibited from testing missiles and nuclear weapons according to a resolution of the UN Security Council. Attempts to dissuade the internationally almost completely isolated state from doing so through diplomatic channels have so far been unsuccessful. North Korea’s talks with South Korea and the United States have stalled.
