The 17-year-old brother of the 12-year-old boy who stabbed a police officer in Peer, Limburg province, on Thursday will face more intensive legal support. The young man was already under the supervision of a youth judge following a violent robbery in a store. His brother was placed in a semi-open youth protection institution for three months, the Limburg prosecutor’s office said on Friday.
“My client is transparently cooperating with the investigation“, assured Me Jeroen Vandenberk, who represents the 17-year-old teenager.
The mother of the two minors was also arrested. She was later released following questioning.
The mother and her eldest son had been picking up the 12-year-old from school when a fight broke out with the neighborhood policeman. The young boy attacked the man with a knife. The latter was seriously injured.
