Currently, these two countries only allow young people on their territory who have a certificate proving the administration of a third dose. As a result, many Flemish teenagers risk seeing their carnival holidays in the country fall through. Concretely, they cannot yet receive this booster dose, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has not yet given its opinion on the third dose for children under 18.
“To block young people under 18 at the border because they haven’t received their booster is to shoot a fly with a cannon, and especially now that the omicron variant is dominant”, affirms- he. “If Italy and Austria go it alone and decide themselves to deny young people access to their territory, this leads to absurd situations. So I will urge these countries to adjust the rules.”
