While the opponent Barthélémy Dias, winner in Dakar, crisscrossed the capital once more yesterday at the end of the day to thank his supporters, the unsuccessful candidate of the majority, the Minister of Health Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, went to the headquarters of the ruling coalition.

Benno Bokk Yaakar recognizes this, the ” double objective of conquering Dakar and Ziguinchor has not been achieved “. But the majority claims to be in the lead “ in 39 departments out of 43 », and having won « 10 of the 14 regional capitals ».

Statement read by El Hadj Hamidou Kassé: “ In the current state of major trends, it is clear that Benno Bokk Yaakar is massively winning these elections. The coalition won a very large majority of municipalities across the country. Benno Bokk Yaakar retains its national hegemony intact »

According to estimates, the majority retains control of Saint Louis and Matam –in the north-, Fatick or even Kaffrine, but loses in Kaolack. The opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wi claims victory in key cities like Thiès, or Guédiawaye. The work of compilation continues on a national scale, indicates its representative, Déthié Fall.
