Al Hilal is close to signing Cologne striker Modest

Al-Riyadh newspaper revealed, on Monday, that the management of the Saudi Al-Hilal club, headed by Fahd bin Nafel, reached a final agreement to include the French striker, Anthony Modeste, the German striker of Cologne, to be a replacement for his French compatriot Bafetimbi Gomez, who alluded to his leaving the team.

The newspaper did not clarify any details regarding the deal or the date of the player’s arrival or completion, especially with the end of the winter Mercato period in Saudi Arabia at the end of January.

Gomez had hinted, during television statements, that the Al-Hilal and Al-Batin match might be his last, and that he would meet with the leader’s administration to discuss his future.

Previous reports indicated that Gomez had received two Gulf offers to leave in the winter transfer period, one from Qatar and the other from the Emirates.

As for Modeste, he started his career with Nice and Angers, then represented Blackburn, Boudreaux, Hoffenheim, Tianjin Guangyan, Saint-Etienne and Cologne in Germany.

Modeste played with Colin 144 matches in various tournaments, during which he scored 72 goals and made 7 assists for his teammates.

Since the beginning of the current winter period, Al Hilal has signed 4 official deals: Saud Abdul Hamid and Abdul Ilah Al Maliki from Al Ittihad, Mohammed Al Owais, Al Ahly goalkeeper, and Abdul Rahman Al Obaid, the former left back for Al Nasr.
