For 30 hours four inhabitants of the municipality of Tame, in Arauca, were held by one of the illegal armed groups that is present in that area of the country. On Sunday night, the Ombudsman’s Office confirmed his release.
“We have received confirmation that the four people who had been taken once morest their will by illegal armed groups in Botalón and Puente Tabla, rural areas of Tame, today they returned to their families”, reads the statement of the Ombudsman.
The deprivation of liberty of these people occurred on Saturday January 22 around 4:00 in the followingnoon in the populated center of Botalón, in Tame. Witnesses had narrated that, without saying a word, the armed men loaded the detainees into trucks and took them to an unknown destination.
Citizens warned of the kidnapping of six people, but later the authorities pointed out that this violation occurred in four Araucanians.
The kidnapping of these people was recorded in the middle of a convulsive week for the Araucanians. The dispute between the dissidents of the FARC and the ELN in that border department over illegal rents does not let up.
